Work in progress, sorry!
a lot of this is still a wip, and most of the detective aspects are bullshitted!
what are they about?
This happiness was short-lived once the head detective was killed in an accident (along with a few others). Brunestein was thrust into being a full-time detective while the head detective was replaced by another from a separate branch, who never liked Brunestein. Brunestein eventually makes a name for themself after solving a large murder case. After a few months, the head detective assigns a partner, Emrys, to Brunestein, because he doesn't trust them to work alone. Before meeting them, Emrys had read about Brunestein’s deductive skills in the paper, he started to idolize them for their deduction abilities and sharp wits. At first Brunestein is indifferent to Emrys and doesn’t really acknowledge his presence, but eventually he warms up to him and they become really close friends. After a while Emrys’ feelings develop beyond idolization but Brunestein stays unaware.

- Emrys is inherently attractive and was not the best person before meeting/working with Brunestein. First of all, he had a lot of commitment issues with things in his life. He would date on and off, have frequent flings with people and wouldn't show any sort of drive or purpose in his life. If a woman would ask him something like, 'hey where is this going? are we going to get married?' he would most likely end it there or continue to avoid the subject. nothing really felt right for him, more often than not his relationships would end poorly, he'd quit jobs after not long, he was a mess. He basically got a sort of push from his mom to commit to SOMETHING so he followed in his dad's footsteps and begrudgingly became a detective. He made himself go study really only to make his mom feel some sort of security for his future, and it's around this time when Brunestein starts to become more famous, he reads about them and becomes aware of their presence. He eventually becomes a casual fan of them, which motivates him to continue to finish his training and eventually become a low-ranking full-fledged detective (in his late 20s). He still hasn't really changed though, his commitment issues follow into his work and really, his first impression on everyone is how unprofessional he is. Emrys isn't dumb, in fact he's really smart, he just never chooses to apply it to anything in his life so it pretty much goes to waste.- Andrew has a one-sided, sour relationship with Emrys. His first impression of Emrys is that he's a lazy slob who can't focus on work. Andrew is a jealous person by nature, and has worked at the agency longer than Emrys, and also appreciates Brunestein's work ethic and skill. He doesn't feel like Emrys is worthy of working with Brunestein.
what are they about?
(vague plot, this part is still a huge wip compared to the rest) Most of the cases Brunstein has worked on are all connected. Once Emrys and Brunestein acquire a key to finding a large weapon of destruction (or plans to making one), Brunstein insists Emrys keeps it safe. Soon after, they rendezvous with the person behind the series of “accidental” deaths that have been plaguing the city of London (the murder of very specific people who are related to this weapon). They agree to meet at Big Ben, and Brunestein arrives first on their own. They try to confront them but a scuffle breaks out and the mastermind takes hold of Brunestein, then at that moment Emrys arrives at the scene. At this point part of the clock face of Big Ben is shattered, and Brunestein is being held over the edge. The mastermind explains to Emrys that if he does not hand over the key, he will kill Brunstein. Emrys panics, and just as he is about to hand the key over, Brunestein maneuvers their body weight to fling them both off the edge of the clock tower, falling to the ground and dying on impact. Emrys watches from above.

what are they about?
Brunestein was born into a wealthy family in rural England. From a very young age, they never felt as if they fit in anywhere. Despite being born female, they never felt comfortable living as one; their abrasive attitude and tendency to seclude themselves caused many children their age to distance themselves from him. As a result, they spent a large amount of their time at home. Their parents knew from the start how bright Brunestein was, so they were very strict, and expected only the best from them in the future. Brunestein felt an immense pressure to please them but ultimately knew their parents would never be satisfied. After a huge fight with their parents, they wanted to escape from what felt like a prison for them, so on the night of their 9th birthday they ran away to the city.Brunestein always struggled with their gender identity due to their upbringing. They were so used to living as a man that they had never thought about who they were comfortable being. It's because of Emrys they were able to open up and understand who truly want to be bit by bit.
what are they about?
After lots of trekking, Brunestein arrived in London. There, they were approached by a gang of thieves. These people would recruit kids and have them steal and in exchange they would receive food and lodging, but it was unsanitary. Brunestein made some friends there, but he was later chased out so they left to go seek a permanent home. Eventually, they arrived at an orphanage. Though shocked at his arrival, the orphanage owner immediately grew fond of Brunestein. They were an astute kid and though estranged from other children for “acting cold”, they got along with many of the adults at the orphanage. Brunestein spent a lot of his time in the library, where he eventually read every book. It was through this, and Brunestein’s innate deduction abilities that the orphanage owner noticed and contacted the London Police Station’s head detective (an old friend of hers) about a possible internship. The head detective immediately saw Brunestein’s talent, and recruited and trained them to be a detective. It was at this point Brunestein felt like this is where they truly belonged. They enjoyed training to be a detective, and thought of the head detective and orphanage owner as role models (even if they wouldn’t admit it).
